The Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) was founded in October
1994 as the Northern Virginia Citizens Defense League (NVCDL). The
group experienced enormous growth in membership statewide and was
incorporated as VCDL in May of 1998.
VCDL is a non-profit, non-partisan, grassroots organization dedicated
to advancing the fundamental human right of all Virginians to keep
and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United
States Constitution and Article I Section 13 of the Constitution of
the Commonwealth of Virginia.

"Virginia Citizens Defense League . . . is on a mission to root out every nugget of gun control it can detect in Virginia. It has been behind campaigns to make sure concealed weapons are allowed in local government buildings, even civic centers, and fought to open up state and local parks to concealed weapons." "They're pretty effective, I have to give them credit." Jim Sollo, Chairman of Virginians Against Handgun Violence Virginian Pilot - Nov 11, 2002
Now that gun carry in National Parks is governed by the substantive law of the state which encompasses the National Park, we expect many Virginia residents as well as visitors will choose to exercise their right to carry as they drive the George Washington Parkway. But there is something you need to know!
The 2010 Legislative Session
The 2010 legislative session saw VCDL beating back even more attacks on the gun rights of Virginians while moving the bar forward. This year saw the demise of the Restaurant Ban which has been a key goal of VCDL for years!
Every year, the number of Virginia gun owners making their voices heard at Lobby Day continues to grow! 2010 was no exception. VCDL Executive Member and master videographer Matt Gottshalk put together this amazing piece on VCDL Lobby Day 2010.
